I am sure that the relations between Azerbaijan and new US
administration will develop in a positive direction, said chairman of
the Democratic Reforms Party Asim Mollazade. He said the United States
are aware of the important role of Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus
and highly evaluate the strategic partnership between our countries.
"August events in Georgia proved that peace is volatile and, therefore,
we hope the United States will pay more attention to the resolution of
"frozen conflicts in the territory of former USSR.
He said the USA is aware that Azerbaijan and Turkey are models of
secular states and their positive image is extremely important for
the this country as these two countries are its important strategic
partners.
"In this connection, it would be correct to touch upon the
pre-electoral promises of Barack Obama to recognize "Armenian genocide"
in case he is elected the US President. I would like to remind that
such promises were given by most presidential candidates but Armenians
have not yet reached its adoption. Therefore, I do hope that the
pre-electoral promises will remain a promise this time and the new
US administration will not take any decisions for politicization of
historical events", concluded Mollazade.
