AN OPPOSITIONIST CLAIMED ATTEMPT ON ARMENIAN PRESIDENT'S LIFE ARRESTED

Yerevan-APA. An Armenian oppositionist Sargs Apchanyan, who told
journalists he knows about the plans of attempt on the President Serzh
Sargsyan's, was arrested by the Armenian Ministry of National Security.
The opposition newspapers published claims of French citizen living
in Armenia, APA reports. Apchanyan described scenario of several
assassination attempt on the president's life, including killing
him on board of the plane. He said he received information about the
assassination plans against the head of state from his friend working
at the military academy of one of the European countries.
Apchanyan said former president Robert Kocharyan, Dashnak Party,
as well as forces, who are against the concessions to Azerbaijan
in Nagorno Karabakh conflict, were interested in Serzh Sargsyan's
assassination. After the publishing of these claims, a criminal case
was launched under the article on assassination attempt against the
head of state and later the charge was replaced with the article on
spreading of false information.
