Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan's Kentron and Nork-Marash
districts sentenced Iranian Armenian Vardges Gaspar, Levon
Ter-Petrosyan's proxy during the February 19 Presidential election,
to a one - year prison sentence.
Note, Vardges Gaspar was charged with violence against a government
representative (Article 316 of the Criminal Code).
Advocate Ara Zakaryan is going to appeal the court verdict. "Evidently,
permissiveness reigns in Armenian courts. Sometimes you try to give a
legal assessment to court decisions. But I think this time the court
decision needs a medical assessment," he said.
The Advocate states that the Court acts under a well-planned scenario
as even the prosecutor didn't come to hear the verdict. "This evidences
to the fact that Judge Arshak Petrosyan discharges notary's duties
rather than administers justice," he said.
