FIST FIGHT AT JERUSALEM HOLY SITE
EuroNews - English Version
November 9, 2008
It was supposed to be a peaceful religious ceremony befitting of one
of Christinity's holiest sites. That was until deep-seated rivalry
got the better of some of those gathered inside Jerusalem's Church
of the Holy Sepulcher.
Fierce fighting broke out between Armenian and Greek Orthodox
monks. They belong to two of the half dozen Christian groups that are
supposed to share control of the ancient church. The police detained
two people. Others were left nursing cuts and bruises. Officials say
there is often tension between the rival groups.
