YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 19, NOYAN TAPAN. MAP company (Armavir marz) has
produced 3.5 million bottles of brandy and a million bottles of wines
since early 2008. NT correspondent was informed by the CEO of the
company Makar Petrosian that this year 80% of MAP's production was
exported to more than ten countries, mainly to Russia.
According to M. Petrosian, although MAP brandies have the highest
prices in the domestic market: they cost from 3,000 to 500,000 drams
(from about 10 to 1,650 dollars), demand for these brandies both in
domestic and international markets is growing year by year. Sales
of MAP wines and brandies in the domestic market increase by 20%
annually, while their exports grow by 50-60%.
This year the company purchased 12 thousand tons of grapes from farms,
which is more by 10% as compared with 2007.
MAP currently produces wines of 21 types, including Tigrani, Saperavi,
Nerkeni, as well brandies of 10 types (aged for 3-40 years) such as
Arame, Mashtots, Paruyr Sevak, Makar and others. MAP also manufactures
tinned goods mainly sold in the domestic market.
