ARMENIAN PRESIDENT RECEIVES IMF DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR
YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS: Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan
received today Deputy Managing Director of International Monetary Fund
(IMF) Murilo Portugal and the delegation headed by him.
Presidential press service told Armenpress that the president
highly assessed the efforts of IMF directed towards support to
economic development and stability of Armenia and noted that without
that support Armenia could not have reached great success.
Serzh Sargsyan said he is glad that the Executive Board of IMF
approved Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility program. Noting that
during the last fifteen years Armenia has reached serious economic
achievements, M Portugal said that they are happy being partner of
Armenia and being a part of the success either by financial assistance
or by consultation.
During the meeting they also referred to the global financial
economic crisis. IMF Deputy Managing Director noted that it is a
serious challenge for each country. The sides exchanged opinions over
the increase of resistance of Armenia's economy, steps of the
government directed towards smoothing the impact of the crisis.
