By the recommendation of the Prime Minister a council will be
established in the republic aimed at mitigating the recession, which
will propose solutions for the problems faced by the enterprises.
Chief of the Department of Branch and Regional Economic Development
under Ministry of Economy Hayk Mirzoyan informed us yesterday that the
government would allocate state guarantees to the small and average
entrepreneurs, to help them avoid the possible consequences of crises
when taking credits. At present they are holding negotiations with
the World Bank, to get 250 million dollars credit resources for the
promotion of small and average entrepreneurial activity.
In the framework of the measures aimed at resisting the possible
influence of the world recession, a free trade zone will be established
in Armenia.
Firstly the trade zone will be established in "Zvartnots" Airport
later similar activity will be realized in Gyumry: "The free trade
zone presumes an establishment of the zone for the export of Armenian
agricultural production, with all the necessary conditions for the
preservation: fridges, laboratories, etc.," Hayk Mirzoyan said.
According to him the establishment of similar zone is mainly aimed
at providing a super-modern and qualitative exit to the international
market, by maintaining the qualitative index of the product and devel
oping the organic agriculture.
It is planned to ensure united parameters for Armenian products, with
a special label "Made in Armenia". Different companies will export
their products from the free zone, but under the same brand, which
will testify to the quality. The European Countries and Russia will
be the first possible markets for the export of Armenian agricultural
products.
According to the Chief of the Department this will provide an
opportunity for the Armenian farmers to consume their product by
higher prices, as well as solve the issue of preservation.
