ARMENIAN PRESIDENT: NAGORNYY KARABAKH CONFLICT SETTLEMENT PROCESS ENTERS AN ACTIVE STAGE

ArmInfo. 'The reality is that after the long-lasting period of
passiveness the Nagornyy Karabakh conflict settlement process has
entered an active stage', - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said
in an interview with Armenian Public TV.
He also added this is conditioned at least by two important factors
- presidential elections ended in Armenia as well as in Azerbaijan,
and secondly the known events in the region have assured everybody no
conflict may be resolved by means of war. 'The Karabakh conflict may
be settled if Azerbaijan will recognize the right of the people of
Nagornyy Karabakh for self-determination, if Nagornyy Karabakh will
have the land border to Armenia and if international organizations
and the leading states will guarantee security of the people of
Nagornyy Karabakh. I think activeness and public discussion are
useful. And I am sure we shall enter the period of more active
political discussions. Discussions are always useful, but only one
interest - the interest of the people of Armenia, should be on their
basis. We sacrificed too much for the Karabakh conflict resolving
so that to ignore speculation facts', - the president said and added
'We are resolving an important historical problem and an attempt to
trace other own interest is immoral'.
