Turkey
Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Wednesday that his recent visit
to Armenia took place to create a new warmer climate between the
two countries.
"The new climate will eradicate problems in relations with Armenia,"
Gul told reporters at a reception held at Ankara's Cankaya Palace to
celebrate Turkish Republic Day.
"Everyone must support this climate. I am hopeful. I expect good
developments," Gul was quoted by the Anatolian Agency as saying.
There is no diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey, as
Armenia presses the international community to admit the so-called
"genocide" claims instead of accepting Turkey's call to investigate
the allegations, and Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan.
A warmer period began between Turkey and Armenia after Turkish
President Abdullah Gul paid a landmark visit to Armenia early
September.
