ArmInfo. A "sensational" document, promulgated by the first President
of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan, is a decision of the Center and
Nork-Marash court of general jurisdiction, which meets the standards of
RA Criminal Procedure Code, about listening of the telephone of Head of
L. Ter-Petrosyan's campaign headquarters Alexander Arzumanyan, Director
of the National Security Service of Armenia Gorik Hakopyan said in an
interview with 'Golos Armenii' newspaper.
He also said that the document is in the criminal case instituted with
respect to Arzumanyan, and its copy has been submitted to the attorney.
G. Hakopyan called L. Ter-Petrosyan's comments about the alleged
unlawful actions of NSS or the court regarding March 1 events
irrelevant. 'These comments have no grounds. On the contrary, as a
result of a number of operational procedures, carried out as per this
court decision, the public has become aware of the scheduled illegal
actions of some forces which led to destabilization of the domestic
political situation in the republic>, G. Hakopyan said.
At the same time, he emphasized that the court satisfied the petition
about listening of A. Arzumanyan's telephone for the reason that,
during the whole election campaign at the rallies and processions,
presidential contender Levon Ter-Petrosyan and his supporters sounded
calls to the readiness for civil disobedience irrespective of the
election results. Ter-Petrosyan was announced a winner candidate in
advance in order to organize illegal actions, started February 20, to
bring L. Ter-Petrosyan to power being guided by one principle - the end
justifies the means. As the further development of the domestic
political situation has shown, after February 19, L. Ter-Petrosyan and
the movement he headed acted just in this way, and it proves once again
that it was a correct decision to "control" the movement, RA NSS
director said.
