TURKEY DOUBTS ABOUT THE LEADING ROLE OF USA IN THE WORLD, TURKISH ANALYST THINKS

ArmInfo. Turkey doubts about the leading role of USA in the world,
as a result of which it revisited its foreign policy guidelines,
editor-in-chief of Turkish Policy Quarterly, the leading analyst
of European Stability Initiative Diba igar Goksel said at today's
international conference "Situation in the Caucasus. The role of NATO
and European Union" held in Yerevan.
'If before coming of the incumbent authorities to the power in Turkey
in 2002 Turkey used to conduct the pro-American and pro-Israeli
foreign policy, at present, in particular since 2005 Turkey has
started preferring European Union in its foreign policy as well as
raising of its role in the region', - she said.
She also added it is no secret that there are serious disagreements
between Turkey and the USA over the last period of time regarding
certain issues, in particular the position regarding Syria and Iran. As
for the inter-ethnic conflicts, Turkey is trying to play the role of
intermediary for their peaceful settlement.
In the created new realities Turkey confesses the risen role of
Russia in the region and is ready to cooperate with this country in
this context, Goksel concluded.
