ARMENIAN AND TURKISH FMS RESOLUTE ABOUT ARMENIAN-TURKISH RELATIONS' ESTABLISHMENT

YEREVAN, 08.09.08. DE FACTO. A meeting of Armenian and Turkish FMs
Edvard Nalbandian and Ali Babacan was held on night on September
7. To note, the meeting lasted two hours and a half.
According to the RA MFA Press Office, Armenian and Turkish FMs stated
they were resolute about the settlement of Armenian-Turkish relations.
Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian noted Armenian party attached
great importance to the visit of Turkey's high-ranking delegation to
Armenia, which would open up big possibilities for a dialogue between
the two countries' authorities.
RA FM again reaffirmed Armenia party's readiness to establish
diplomatic relations with Turkey without preliminary preconditions
and noted Armenia considered Turkish President's visit as a serious
stimulus to it.
Armenian and Turkish FMs noted they would undertake consecutive steps
towards settlement of bilateral relations.
Heads of Armenian and Turkish MFAs agreed to meet within the frames
of the U. N. General Assembly to be held in New York.
Edvard Nalbandian and Ali Babacan discussed Turkish initiative
concerning the establishment of stability and security platform in
Caucasus in detail. In this connection Minister Nalbandian stated the
Armenian party welcomed the idea to establish a platform, which is
targeted at establishment of trust, stability, security and cooperation
in the region.
The interlocutors also touched on the issue referring to the
development of situation around Karabakh conflict settlement.
In the course of the meeting the parties also considered a number of
international and regional issues.
