ArmInfo. The Armenian opposition's rally organized by the Armenian
National Congress (ANC), which was scheduled for September 12, will
take place on September 15, Levon Zurabyan, a member of the ANC
Central Office, said at a press-conference, Thursday.
Zurabyan published the ANC's statement according to which the
opposition took a decision to postpone the Sep 5 rally to give the
authorities an opportunity to hold Armenia-Turkey football match
and receive the Turkish president. However, the authorities took no
reciprocal steps, on the contrary, they respond with violence to any,
even the smallest protest action of the opposition. '75 political
prisoners are still under arrest, A1+ TV company is still deprived
of air, the police displays lawlessness and outrage. The authorities
make advantage of the fact that the international community focuses
its attention on the Russian-Georgian relations today', the statement
says. It adds that the opposition continues to adhere to the course of
restoration of the society's democratic rights and calls on citizens
to attend the Sep 15 rally near Matenadaran at 6:30 pm.
