/PanARMENIAN.Net/ An authorized opposition rally was held in Yerevan
yesterday. Addressing the demonstrators, Armenia's first President
Levon Ter-Petrosyan slammed Turkey's proposal to form a commission
of historians to study the fact of Armenian Genocide in 1915. "Making
such a proposal, Turkey aimed to suspend the process of the Armenian
Genocide international recognition," he said.
It's worth noting that the demonstrators refrained from their usual
march down Yerevan streets, following the city administration's
request to honor the Day of the Deceased marked in the republic on
September 15 this year.
The next rally will be held on September 26 'to summarize the outcomes
of the domestic events and outline future activities', said Levon
Zurabyan, a member of the Armenian National Congress.
