The newly appointed Ambassador of the United States to Armenia Marie
Yovanovitch will arrive in Yerevan on September 17 and will assume her
official duties upon presentation of her credentials, press service
of the US Embassy in Armenia reported.
The position of the US Ambassador to Armenia has been vacant since
2006, when Ambassador John Evans was recalled for publicly recognizing
the Armenian Genocide.
The Senate confirmed the candidacy of Marie Yovanovitch in August 2008.
