ARMENIAN VOLUNTEER UNION VOICES SUPPORT FOR CONGRESS

"After the March 1 events this is the first rally sanctioned by the
City Hall," said HHSh member Suren Sureniants at today's rally.
He believes that the struggle has entered a final phase as Armenian
people are worth legitimate authorities.
Samvel Harutiunian who made a speech in the name of the "Armenian
Volunteers' Union" said that still in 2006 the Union called for a
combat against election tampering which would help overthrow the
acting regime. The statement was co-authored by Zhirair Sefilian and
Vardan Malkhassian who were later jailed.
"The "Armenian Volunteers' Union" publicly voices support for the
Armenian National Congress. We state that Levon Ter-Petrossian who
reinterpreted the past has earned the right to be called Armenia's
President. The rally is aimed at restoring the constitutional right
and making Ter-Petrossian the country's president," runs the statement
of the Armenian Volunteers' Union.
Armen Martirossian made a speech in the name of the Zharangutiun
(Heritage) Party.
