ALLOYS AND COMPOUNDS: FINDINGS IN ALLOYS AND COMPOUNDS REPORTED FROM YEREVAN STATE UNIVERSITY
Science Letter
September 16, 2008
According to a study from Yerevan, Armenia, "In the research
silicothermal reduction of copper oxide, CuO, was studied."
"It was shown that the reduction temperature, main characteristics
of the oxide/siliceous slag obtained and degree of phase separation
may be regulated by introducing iron and silicon oxides into the
initial charge. Optimum conditions on separating the fusible slag
and reduced copper were found," wrote M.H. Yamukyan and colleagues,
Yerevan State University (see also Alloys and Compounds).
The researchers concluded: "Under such conditions the degree of
extracting cast copper accounted for 90-95 wt.%."
Yamukyan and colleagues published the results of their research in the
Journal of Alloys and Compounds (Cast copper produced by combustion
reaction. Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2008;461(1-2):L14-L16).
