YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS: A delegation of the Armenian Central
Electoral Commission participated in the 17th annual conference of
the Association of European Elected Authorities from September 11
to 13 at the invitation of the Association and Romanian permanent
Electoral Commission.
Press secretary of the Armenian CEC Tatev Ohanian told Armenpress
that during the conference the participants discussed a number of
issues relating to the security of conduction of the elections, and
particularly the role of law enforcers in ensuring security during
the elections, as well as ensuring security in polling stations.
Member countries of the association, minister of Romanian home affairs,
chairman of the International Foundation of Electoral Systems, as
well as representatives from European Commission, Council of Europe,
UN and other organizations participated in the conference.
The Association also decided to conduct its 2009 conference in Armenia
and elected the chairman of the Armenian CEC Garegin Azarian president
of the Association with one-year term.
