ARMENIAN PRESIDENT WELCOMES COOPERATION WITH USA

YEREVAN, September 23. /ARKA/. Armenia stresses the importance
of cooperation with the Unites States, RA President Serzh Sargsyan
said as newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovich
presented him her credentials.
The Armenian leader thanked the U.S. government for the
great assistance it had offered to the independent Republic of
Armenia. Sargsyan also stressed the importance of the U.S. mediation
in the Karabakh conflict settlement.
Ambassador Yovanovich congratulated Armenia on behalf of President
Bush on the Independence Day marked on September 21.
She said the U.S.A. is ready to offer staunch support to Armenia and
boost bilateral cooperation.
The Ambassador told the RA President the U.S. government welcomed
Sargsyan's initiative to invite the Turkish President to Armenia,
calling the invitation an attempt to establish stability and
cooperation in the South Caucasus.
On the invitation of his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan, Turkish
President Abdullah Gul visited Armenia on September 6 to attend a
soccer match between Armenian and Turkish teams.
