YEREVAN, September 24. /ARKA/. The agreement on Armenian electricity
supplies to Turkey has entered into force, said RA Minister of Energy
and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan. Armenia will start supplying
Turkey with electricity next year.
The agreement was signed between the RA Ministry of Energy and Natural
Resources, the High Voltage Lines state-owned company and the Turkish
electricity supplier UNIT.
At the initial stage Armenia will annually supply Turkey with 1.5bln
kWh of electricity, bringing annual supplies up to 3.5bln kWh.
Movsisyan shot down the rumors spread by Turkish mass media that the
Turkey's State Energy Committee said it would stop supporting the
companies that had agreed with Armenia on electricity supplies.
"The agreement is effective and both parties try to fulfill the
obligations of the contract," the minister said.
The Turkish UNIT will be the importer of Armenian electricity to
Turkey.
Movsisyan said the company has affiliates in many countries and is
famous among European electricity importers.
