Armeni an Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian has meetings in New-York
On September 26 Edward Nalbandian, who was in New-York within the delegation
headed by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, met with Azerbaijani Foreign
Minister Elmar Mammedyarov. OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Bernard Fassier
(France), Metthew Bryza (USA), Yuri Merzlyakov (Russia) and Andrzey
Kasprzyk, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-office also
attended the meeting.
The negotiation process within the framework of Minsk Group for settlement
of Nagorno-Karabakh problem based on the Madrid proposals made by Co-Chairs
in 2007 was on agenda of the meeting. It was confirmed that the problem
should be settled only through peaceful negotiations.
Then Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and Azerbaijani Foreign
Minister Elmar Mammedyarov had a tet-a-tet and discussed the ways of
bringing closer positions of the parties on the settlement and possibilities
of a new meeting between Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents.
On the same day Edward Nalbandian met with Turkish Foreign Minister Ali
Babacan. based on the instruction of Turkish and Armenian Presidents, the
two Foreign Ministers continued the discussions on normalization of
bilateral relations.
Afterwards, a trilateral meeting between Armenian, Azerbaijani and Turkish
Foreign Ministers took place. In the course of the meeting they discussed
recent regional developments and the initiative of establishing Caucasian
platform.
On September 26 Minister Edward Nalbandian as the Chairman of Collective
Security Treaty Organization Foreign Ministers Council gave a working lunch
in honour of CSTO member-states' Foreign Ministers in New-York. In the
course of the meeting they discussed the coordination of CSTOM member states
positions concerning the issues on the UN General Assembly 63-rd sessions'
agenda.
