CANADA-ARMENIA PARLIAMENTARY FRIENDSHIP GROUP NEW CHAIRMAN APPOINTED

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Harold Albrecht, Member of Parliament for
Kitchener-Conestoga, has been appointed Chairman of the Canada-Armenia
Parliamentary Friendship Group. Dr. Albrecht is a Dental Surgeon with
many years of community service. A Conservative, he was recently
appointed Deputy Government Whip in the House of Commons. Previous
Chairmen of the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group were
Sarkis Assadourian MP, and Gary Goodyear MP.
"In my discussions with Dr. Albrecht, I have been impressed with
how quickly he is familiarizing himself with the issues that are
important to Armenians and to our community, and with his dedication
to increase the ties between Canada and Armenia," said Taro Alepian,
Chairman of the Congress of Canadian Armenians. "He asked for our
assistance in carrying out his new mandate, and I assured him that
we are committed to help in whatever way that we can."
Established in 2004, the Congress of Canadian Armenians is comprised
of many of the large Canadian Armenian organizations. It serves as
a united voice to present Armenian issues to the Canadian public and
to promote Armenian interests.
