ArmInfo. Russian co-chair of OSCE MG Yuri Merzlyakov has disproved
the words ascribed to him by Bakililar and Trend that 'Armenia cannot
stop negotiating and there still remain the pressure levers upon it'.
Asked by Arminfo correspondent about credibility of the words ascribed
to him, Yuri Merzlyakov replied: 'This is absolutely wrong. I want
to say officially that I did not say these words. The context was
absolutely different. The point was about affecting of the expected
normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations the Karabakh conflict
settlement process, and I said that the co-chairs suppose it will
promote the settlement process.
There was a question - but in that case they (Armenians) can leave
the negotiating process. I replied it cannot happen'.
Asked if the word "levers" was used by the Russian co-chair, Merzlyakov
explained: 'A correspondent asked - "they can leave the process and
we shall not have the levers of pressure". But I did not say that'.
