ArmInfo. Deputy Chairman of "Gazprom" Valery Golubev said the Company
has offered Tbilisi to discuss the possible forms of the Holding's
participation in the work on restoration and development of Georgia's
gas transmission system. According to V. Golubev, transit through
the territory of Georgia is the main way of the Russian natural gas
supply to Armenia. However, he said, the gas transmission system of
this republic is presently "characterized by high degree of wear,
that arouses concern regarding the reliability of gas supply of the
Armenian consumers". A complex of work on restoration and development
of Georgia's gas transmission system should be carried out to assure
Armenia's growing needs in natural gas, V. Golubev said, ITAR-TASS
reported.
