US President expresses his support toward the normalization of
Armenian-Turkish relations
In Istanbul on April 6 in the evening US President Barack Obama met
with Foreign Ministers of Armenia, Turkey and Switzerland Edward
Nalbandian, Ali Babacan and Micheline Calmy-Rey. The meeting took
place before the official dinner hosted by Turkish President Abdullah
Gul in honor of the participants of the second Forum of the United
Nations Alliance of Civilizations.
President Obama expressed his support towards the efforts of the
leaders of Armenia and Turkey aimed at the normalization of bilateral
relations and commended on recent progress in the negotiations.
President Obama urged to complete an agreement on normalization of
relations between the two important countries - Armenia and Turkey .
US President said that the steps taken by Armenian and Turkish leaders
are historic and courageous steps and the opening of Armenian-Turkish
border would return peaceful and prosperous future for the both
nations.
