On April 10, Serge Sargsyan said with regard to the election of mayor
of Yerevan to disagree that that the mayor election is the second
round of the presidential election. `The presidential elections took
place a year and two months ago and the next presidential election
will be held within the terms set down in the Constitution. The
election of the mayor of Yerevan aroused much interest among the
international organizations and I consider it as a normal event. This
is the interest in the democratization of our country and we will
always be positive regarding this interest. I think everyone should
get ready for the election of mayor. I think this election will be
like the others, there will be only one round,' said Serge Sargsyan.

`All of us should be ready to accept any result of the election, all
of us should participate in it in order to solve the main question of
that election to elect a mayor,' says Serge Sargsyan.

In answer to the question on his attitude towards the statement of the
leader of the opposition Levon Ter-Petrosyan during the March 1 rally
to reject riots and revolutions, Serge Sargsyan said: `My attitude is
good, it is a very wise approach, but unfortunately this statement was
not made on February 20, 2008'.

As to Levon Ter-Petrosyan's decision to run in the election of mayor,
Serge Sargsyan said: `As the president of Armenia I take any decision
    of any Armenian citizen normally.'

He disagred that if the election of mayor of shows that the rating of
the Armenian government declined, an early parliamentary election will
be held. `I thought that this topic of early parliamentary elections
was forgotten a long ago. Nothing may force me to act that way. The
constitution states the circumstances under which an early
parliamentary election is held,' said Serge Sargsyan.

He ruled out that March 1 will repeat after the election of the mayor
of Yerevan. `We will overcome any tension, no matter how strong it
    is,' he said.

In answer to the question whether the government is ready to give up
power in Yerevan in case the government loses the election Serge
Sargsyan said: `I don't understand what it means `to give up
power'. Power in Armenia belongs to people, and if the opposition wins
the election, it will stop being opposition and will become the
    government of the city.'
