ArmInfo. 'The document Armenia and Turkey have agreed on is not
a road-map but a program of progressive actions', Aram Safaryan,
parliamentarian representing Prosperous Armenia Party faction in the
parliament, told ArmInfo.
He called the joint statement by the foreign ministries of Armenia
and Turkey the first tangible step in the process of normalizing
the bilateral relations. The parliamentarian also highlighted the
statement by the U.S.
Department of State representative saying that America is for
normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations without preconditions
within reasonable terms. 'It is a call for the Turkish diplomacy to
stop the ideology of preconditions and not to postpone the process
for indefinite period of time', Safaryan said. 'Negotiations around
the road-map that will follow the given joint statement will be
more difficult because of many invisible obstacles', he said. The
parliamentarian hopes the diplomats of Armenia and Turkey will display
enough will to overcome these obstacles.
