Former World Cycling Champions Joining the 7th Annual ATG Bike For Hope

    Cycling for a cause

Former world cycling champion Mesrop Shaboyan will join the 7th annual
ATG Bike For Hope Fun Ride that will take place on Sunday, April 26,
2009 in Los Angeles starting at 7 am.

Mesrop Shaboyan started cycling in the mid-1980s. He was only 18 years
old when he became the USSR junior champion, and in 1991 he became the
world champion in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is the winner of
numerous international competitions, including capturing the title of
"King of the Mountain" at an event in Switzerland.

"I am excited to ride with BikeForHope and with so many volunteers and
enthusiasts to raise funds to purchase new cycling supplies for some
250 children and teenagers who are being trained in Armenia by Albert
Soloyan." said Mesrop Shaboyan. "Albert was my cycling coach when I
was growing up. I have first-hand experience; he was my trainer. I
know that Albert will prepare a new generation of cyclists to compete
in Olympic and other world competitions. I also want to thank former
cycling champion Hratch Govrikyan of Velo Pasadena and the Armenian
Technology Group Bike For Hope for spearheading these efforts."

Currently, seven young cyclists have to share a single outdated bike
in Armenia. ATG Bike For Hope will purchase and ship new bicycles to
Armenia. "We are honored to have two former cycling champions, Hratch
and Mesrop, joining forces to extend a helping hand to their former
coach, Mr. Soloyan, in Armenia," said Varoujan Der Simonian, executive
director of ATG. "In addition to promoting healthy lifestyles, we will
establish an after-school program for the children, pulling them away
from the streets, and providing them the opportunity to engage in
constructive activities and grow in a positive environment."

Based in Los Angeles, Mr. Shaboyan is the Deputy Consul General of the
Republic of Armenia. He also serves as the vice president of the
Armenian Cycling Federation. Joining Hratch and Mesrop will be the
six-time ATG Bike For Hope Tour Armenia pioneer, Vatche Soghomonian,
    to champion this cause.

    Experience LA like never before!
This year, the Bike-a-Thon will tour the sights and sounds of Los
Angeles as part of the 2009 City of Angels Fun Ride. Cyclists will
choose between a 36-mile and a 53-mile route through the city,
starting and ending at the L.A. Police Academy and escorted along the
ride by the LAPD. Registration fees for the ride includes a T-shirt,
lunch, and a raffle ticket. More then 30 riders have already signed
    up.

Participants can choose from two riding options: recreational 36
miles; and advanced: 53 miles. Please plan to report at 7 am.

To register for the 7th annual Bike for Hope ride, download and
complete out the registration form and drop it off at Velo Pasadena on
Colorado Street, before Saturday April 25, 2009.

This is a fun ride and not a race. You'll make new friends, see new
things, and enjoy the ride. Our goal is to take you on a tour of Los
Angeles to some wonderful and unique areas of the city that you
ordinarily would not see on a bicycle (or even in a car), while
raising money for a worthy cause.

The route passes by 70 scenic, cultural, and historic sights, each of
which will be listed on the route sheets that you pick-up on the day
of the event. View the event flyer to check out more details of the
    ride.

The LAPD Special Event Motorcycle Unit and Bicycle Patrol will be
providing a rolling escort for the entire route. Please follow their
directions for your safety and the safety of others.

Register today! Join us and champion a worthy cause!
