Council of CIS Prime Ministers will be conducted May 22 in Astana
during which the participants will discuss issues of financing
of events within the frameworks of development of humanitarian
cooperation between the CIS states, the Russian Foreign Minister
    Sergey Lavrov said.

During today's agreement signing ceremony between Russian government
and the Inter State Fund of Humanitarian Cooperation (IFHC) on
the terms of activity of the fund on the Russian territory, Lavrov
noted that signing of this document "is an important step towards
consolidation of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere within the
    CIS territory".

"It is important that the fund has made a decision on financing of
a number of programs intended for 2009-2010 within the frameworks of
development of humanitarian cooperation, discussion of which will take
place during the Astana session of CIS Prime Ministers on May 22",
    - Lavrov said.

Today in Moscow a memorandum of partnership between the CIS executive
committee and IFHC has also been signed. From the Russian side the
agreement and memorandum have been signed by the Russian Foreign
Minister Sergey Lavrov, from the IFHC side - by the Kazakh Education
and Science Minister Zhanseit Tuymebaev, and from CIS side - head of
    CIS executive committee Sergey Lebedev.

Russia has already provided a building to IFHC in Moscow for locating
its central office as well as provided means for its project activity
and expenditures of the executive board.

In 2008 with the support of the fund nearly 70 humanitarian
projects in cultural, scientific and educational sphere have been
implemented. During the current year the IFHC has planned to implement
more than 90 projects including within the frameworks of Year of the
Youth in CIS which has been announced on the decision of Presidents
    of CIS states.

The Inter-state Fund of Humanitarian Cooperation has been established
with the 25 May 2006 decision of the CIS Council of Prime ministers
which was held with the participation of Armenian, Belarus, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, Russian, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan sides in Dushanbe.

In 2008 Azerbaijan also joined the agreement.
