AGREEMENT ON CONCESSIONARY MANAGEMENT OF ARMENIAN RAILWAYS BY RUSSIAN RAILWAYS TO BE REVIEWED

At the August 6 sitting, the Armenian government took a decision on
making amendments and additions to the concession agreement on passing
Armenian Railways to South Caucasus Railways CJSC (set up by Russian
Railways) for concessionary management.
In the words of RA Minister of Transport and Communication Gurgen
Sargsyan, during the meeting of the Armenian delegation and the
management of Russian Railways company, the sides agreed to make
some amendments and additions to the concession agreement. "In the
course of one-year joint work done under the concession agreement,
some flaws have been revealed and must be eliminated," the minister
said, adding that the edited version of the agreement will contain
a provision on the order of establishing railway tariffs.
According to RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the edited version
envisages creating a joint working group, whose consideration is
required for a change in tariffs.
