PENDENCY IN NKR CONFLICT SETTLEMENT HAMPERS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE REGION

opportunity to settle relations and establish peace in the region,
MG OSCE US Co-Chair for NKR conflict settlement, Matthew Bryza
stated. According to him, pendency in NKR conflict settlement hampers
economic development in the region.
US diplomat noted that NKR will be given a transitional status, with
final status to be resolved on via referendum. "During referendum, a
balance between RA and Azeri population will be observed in accordance
with last population census," Bryza emphasized.
According to last USSR population census, 75 % of Armenians and 23 %
of Azerbaijanis resided in Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Region in 1989.
