On August 14, the Armenian chief of the police Alik Sargsyan is going
to hold a press conference. Naturally, Alik Sargsyan is going to
dwell on the positive and negative sides of the police and certainly,
he is going to note that the Police of Armenia stand firm for the
protection of the law and public order. He will say that everyone is
equal before the law, in other words, he will say what is set down
by the Constitution and laws.
Let as dwell with the question on the equality of everyone in front
of the law. It will be interesting to hear from the chief of the
police in what state are the examinations of the crimes committed
by the relatives of high-ranking officials. It would be interesting
to learn whether they will bear punishment, or it will be found out
with "undeniable proofs" that they have nothing in common with those
crimes. Or whether someone is going to take the blame from them, who
will be later amnestied. For example, the relatives of the NA speaker
Hovik Abrahamyan, Gyumri mayor Vardan Ghukasyan, NA parliamentary
member Samvel Aleksanyan (let all the other officials forgive me for
not mentioning their names).
This may be the index of the Police work, and if there are such cases,
it is of no interest for the public what other revelations the police
made. Since, in accordance with the Constitution and laws, struggle
against criminality is a duty and not a favor to the public.
