LAST WEEK ARMENIAN BANKS PROVIDED LOANS WORTH 12.3 BLN AMD AND $18.6 MLN USD

ArmInfo. Last week Armenian banks provided loans worth 12.3 bln AMD
and $18.6 mln USD, the press-service of the Central Bank of Armenia
told ArmInfo, Friday. According to the source, during the current week
(17-21 August) at the intrabank currency market (transactions with
clients) the banks bought $43.114 mln at the average exchange rate of
373,06 AMD/$1, and sold $48.508 mln at the average exchange rate of
375,47 AMD/$1. On 17-21 August at the interbank currency market the
banks carried out operations on purchase and sale of currency worth
$3.650 mln at the average exchange rate of 373,66 AMD/$1. During the
period over review currency operations on purchase and sale worth $3.6
mln were carried out at NASDAQ OMX Armenia at the average exchange
rate of 375,79 AMD/$1. According to ArmInfo data, as of 1 July 2009
the total credit portfolio of the Armenian commercial banks amounted
to $1.8 bln, having decreased by 3% in the second quarter as against
14% growth in the second quarter of 2008.
