    NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE INTRODUCES "SURB KHACH" ARMENIAN MONASTERY COMMEMORATIVE COIN

    YEREVAN, August 27. /ARKA/. The National Bank of Ukraine put into
    circulation "Surb Khach" commemorative coin.

    The press service of the Central Bank of Armenia reported Thursday that
    the National Bank of Ukraine issued "Surb Khach" commemorative silver
    coin on the 650th anniversary of "Surb Khach" Armenian monastery in
    the Crimea built in XIV century as part of series on architectural
    monuments of Ukraine.

    The official website of the Ukrainian National Bank - www.bank.gov.ua -
    reports that the coin was drawn in 10,000 copies, 10 grivnas' value
    each. It is made of silver of 925 standard; diameter is 38.61mm,
    weight 31.1 grams. The sketches are made by Svyatoslav Ivanenko.

    It is the first coin related to Armenian culture that has been drawn
    by a foreign country. The press release says.

    Surb Khach Armenian medieval monastery (built in 1358) is situated
    in a picturesque part of the Crimean peninsula. It was an Armenian
    cultural and pilgrimage center during centuries.
