ARKA

YEREVAN, December 1. /ARKA/. Armenian government intends to toughen
industrial control to prevent economic illegalities, Armenian Prime
Minister Tigran Sargsyan said Tuesday answering the question about
copying foreign brands by Armenian manufacturers.
He said that the Commission of Economic Competition Protection started
working out a new strategy after receiving such alarming calls.
The strategy implies more vigorous activity of the commission.
Besides, new legislative initiatives should be put forward, under which
the commission will get sweeping powers not only to impose sanctions,
but also apply preventive steps against wrongdoers.
"It will be done to bar everybody from selling its shoddy products
by deluding consumers and claiming their products as well-known
brands," Sargsyan said denouncing such a deception as " intolerable
and dangerous phenomenon".
