ATHENS, DECEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS: The office of the OSCE Representative
on Freedom of the Media Miklos Haraszti will continue observing
the situation on expression of different opinions in Armenian mass
media. Miklos Haraszti told Armenpress that he will head the office
till March 10, 2010 and by the end of his tenure will once again
visit Armenia.
"Even if not complete report, additions to the previous one will be
prepared. Certain researches will be made connected with provision
of license, maintaining the rules of freedom of speech," the OSCE
representative said.
Refusing to compare the situation of the sphere in Armenia with the
other countries of the region, M. Haraszti said that he would be
happy to see all the conflicts settled and then only speak about the
differences of situations. Nevertheless he pointed out that without
comparison it must be considered strictly important that there are
no imprisoned reporters in Armenia, except one case when criminal
trial is in process.
