YEREVAN, DECEMBER 8, NOYAN TAPAN. On December 8, the RA National
Assembly ratified the agreements signed on October 19 and 20 2009 by
exchange of letters with NATO on regulation of legal and financial
issues in connection with RA Armed Forces subdivision's participation
in the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
Thus, as the main reporter, Defence Minister Seyran Ohanian said the
day before, an Armenian subdivision consisting of 40 specialists, an
infantry division, an officer doctor and three headquarters officers
will be sent to the province of Kunduz, Afghanistan in 2010 February.
The main mission of the Armenian subdivision to be included in the
provincial rehabilitation group under German directorship will be
guarding of the flying field of Kunduz airpot and constructions.
By an interdepartmental agreement to be signed with the German
Defence Ministry the German side will assume a commitment to cover the
considerable part of Armenian side's financial obligations envisaged
by the agreement: expenditures of Armenian military contingent's
transportation, armament, stay and medical aid. The Armenian side will
only cover mission participants' expenditures regarding their salaries.
