Russia welcomes normalization of relations between Armenia and
Turkey and considers it expedient to establish diplomatic relations
between these two countries, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said,
News.az reports.
"On the whole, we welcome normalization of ties between Armenia
and Turkey and establishment of diplomatic relations would be quite
reasonable and fair in the current situation," said Medvedev answering
questions of the participants of the forum of European and Asian mass
medias in Moscow Wednesday.
At the same time, the Russian president said it is important that "all
other countries understood that normalization of relations between
Armenia and Turkey is not targeted against anyone, it is done for
the sake of Armenia, Turkey and all adjacent states."
"If this message is created and sent in a correct manner, there will no
tensions in other countries that are closely watching these processes",
Medvedev said.
He noted that Armenia and Turkey are trying to overcome the problems
that they had in the 20th century showing restraint and searching
compromises.
