"The four members of the National Commission on Television and Radio
elected by Armenian Parliament do not meet the law requirements,"
Heritage faction Chairman Stepan Safaryan said during today's
parliamentary briefing.
Mr. Safaryan was surprised at the frankness of the newly-appointed
members. "They have pledged to do their best though they have no
notion of the sphere," added Stepan Safaryan.
Orinats Yerkir Party MP Khachik Harutyunyan is displeased with the
commission's work. "I think my opinion will be supported by citizens
watching television as today television offers nothing but trash," said
Mr. Harutyunyan "We simply hope to effect changes in the sphere. Let's
wait and see how the new members work," he added.
ARF-Dashnaktsutyun faction Chairman Vahan Hovhannisyan underlined
that the new NCTR members have no connection with journalism which
is required by law.
"It is important that they be somehow connected with journalism. I
don't doubt their professionalism and honesty but it is required that
they be specialists."
I think that only specialists should have been nominated since the
sphere is specific. But the candidates pledged to avoid problems at
work," said Prosperous Armenia Party MP Naira Zurabyan.
