The Presidents of Armenia and Latvia Serzh Sargsyan and Valdis Zatlers
participated in the opening of the Armenian-Latvian Business Forum
in Yerevan.
Greeting the participants of the forum, President Serzh Sargsyan said:
"I'm sincerely glad that President Valdis Zatlers, his delegation and
representatives of the business sphere are in Armenia today. This
visit is an evidence of the progress in our relations not only in
the political, but also economic fields."
"The commodity turnover between Armenia and Latvia has increased
over the past years. Despite the slow pace connected with the
global financial-economic crisis, I'm confident that all necessary
preconditions exist to ensure further growth," the President said.
President Sargsyan voiced hope that the businessmen would discuss
the possible directions of cooperation and establish useful contacts.
The President said he hopes the agreements on economic and
scientific-technical cooperation signed in the framework of the visit
would give new impetus to the business ties.
