Yerevan (Yerkir) - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan repeated
a call for Armenia to open its archives to historians to prove claims
that Ottoman Turks committed genocide against Armenians in 1915,
the Bloomberg agency reported.
"The so-called genocide is completely a lie," he said. "I invite
people to prove it happened."
The World War I killings are recognized as genocide by more than
three-quarters of U.S. states, as well as the parliaments of more
than 20 countries, including France, Greece and the Netherlands.
Obama urged Erdogan during their White House meeting this week to
take measures that Turkey has agreed on with Armenia to help normalize
the countries' relations.
Erdogan said parliament won't approve the agreements unless there's
progress toward resolving Nagorno Karabakh.
