ST. PETERSBURG, DECEMBER 11, ARMENPRESS: The session of the EurAsEC
Inter-State Council started today with the presentation of issues of
the Council of the Supreme Customs Body. The heads of the member states
of the organization first conducted a narrow and then an extended
discussion. During the session package of agreements consisting of
more than 20 documents have been signed.
At the meeting with the reporters Russian Prime Minister Vladimir
Putin described today's meeting as strictly important, pointing
out that this organization may be the locomotive of development
of EurAsEC. According to him, the signing of these documents is
a serious step for the creation of joint economic territory and
seriously promotes the economic integration. The crisis, according
to Putin, may be considered overcome but the situation is not smooth
yet, thus in that respect the implementation of the events initiated
by the organization are seriously highlighted. After the collapse of
the USSR the economic ties seemed do be destroyed and the integration
processes slowed down. Within the framework of the CIS and a number
of other organizations an attempt is being made to fill the gap and
the activity of EurAsEC is too directed toward it.
"There still are very serious and unsettled issues and this is a
step toward their solution," he said, highlighting the signing of
today's documents.
The anti-crisis fund established by the organization will start its
main activity from 2010. Armenia too takes part in its work. The fund
will promote the effective implementation of anti-crisis events in
the member states and from 2011 steps will be undertaken toward the
creation of joint economic territory.
>From 2010 for the member states of EurAsEC joint customs tariffs will
be established. The agreement over it was signed yet in November.
