ArmInfo. The plans of Nagin company to start developing Hrazdan iron
    mine can be made final.

As Coordinator of the Aarhus Center in Hrazdan Edgar Yengibaryan
told ArmInfo, the positive opinion of the State Environmental Expert
Group on the working project for development of Hrazdan of iron mine,
given to the company in 2008, has been recognized ineffective because
of expiry of the term indicated in the document. "To receive a new
opinion, Nagin will have to submit a new documentation, however, it
will be not so easy taking into account a great public resonance",
Yengibaryan said. He did rule out the fact that development of the
mine will not start also because of low content of iron in the ore.

"In case if Nagin decides to develop the mine after all, we shall
apply to the international organizations and President of Armenia S.

Sargsyan", Yengibaryan said. "As for Nagin company, all the attempts
we earlier made to contact it turned out ineffective: the company
has no legal address and contact phone number", Yengibaryan said.

To recall, 2000 residents of Hrazdan have already signed against
development of the iron mine. The deposit is located at 800 km from
the town of Hrazdan and at 1,5 km - from Hrazdan river. The expert
think that development of the mine may become a reason of the town
contamination with heavy metals and appearance of dangerous diseases
at the local population. Unfortunately, all these facts did not
hinder Nagin company to obtain a positive conclusion of the State
Environmental Expert Group of Armenia's Ministry for Nature Protection
    in 2008.
