The Turkish authorities' claims about tens of thousands of migrant
workers from Armenia are an exaggeration, Head of the RA Migration
Service Gagik Yeganyan told a press conference.
He reported that the Turkish side regularly claims 50-70 thousand
migrant workers from Armenia are working in Armenia. A survey conducted
by the Armenian office of the Eurasia Foundation proves the claims
to be false.
Also, on its official website, the Statistical Institute of Turkey
reported that the unfavorable migration balance between Armenia and
Turkey has been 5,238 people since 2000.
Last year a total of 63,855 people migrated from Armenia to Turkey,
and 64,395 left Turkey back to Armenia.
