Baku. Ibad Bagirov. Ismayil Heydarov - APA. "Egypt is considered
one of the most important Arab states for Azerbaijan. There are
opportunities to extend the relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt in
all spheres," first vice-speaker of Azerbaijani parliament Ziyafat
Asgarov said addressing the meeting of the Parliamentary Union of
the OIC member states, APA reports. He called on the Arab and Islam
countries to support Azerbaijan's position on Nagorno Karabakh problem
and exert pressure on Armenia. He mentioned that the UN passed four
resolutions on Armenia's aggressive policy, but none of the decisions
was implemented.
"Azerbaijani parliament has focused attention on this issue and
participates in the process of negotiations on the settlement of the
conflict. Azerbaijan demands the release of the occupied territories
and peaceful solution to the conflict," he said.
Touching on the processes in the Near East Ziyafat Asgarov said instead
of relying on the US and the European Union in the solution of the
conflict, unity should be achieved between the Arab and Islamic states.
"Some states are to blame for the problems in the Near East. There are
some international forces that are not interested in the solution to
the Near East and Karabakh problem. All these problems can be solved
only within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Conference
Islamic and Arab world," he said.
