LOS ANGELES, DECEMBER 23, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. A discussion
on Armenian-Turkish protocols took place on December 17 at Merdinian
school's hall, with the joint efforts of Arpa's and UCLA's Armenian
Educational Institution. 200 persons participated in the discussion.

According to Asbarez, chair's Director, professor Richard Hovannisian
conducted the discussion. Consul General of RA to Los Angeles Grigor
Hovhannisian, editor of the journal of the Society for Armenian
Studies and Honorary Consul of Oman to Los Angeles Joseph Kechichian,
intellectual Razmik Shirinian took part in the discussion.

The speakers mentioned the positive and negative sides of the
protocols, expressed their opinions. Joseph Kechichian finishing
the discussion stressed that the Armenian Diaspora being much more
experienced in such issues and successfully failing a number of
challenges is less naive, and work should be done to sum up and
to take into consideration the positions of Armenian community's
    different sides.
