Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has become an honorary
citizen of Tehran, Press TV reported.
The decision was made after Erdogan's speech in Davos, where he
condemned Israeli military operations in Gaza.
Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqir Kalibaf assessed the Turkish PM's speech as
"bold and sage deed".
Erdogan delivered a speech on January 29 in a conference in the
framework of Davos World Economic Forum. The conference was dedicated
to Gaza incidents. The Turksih PM was angry about the situation,
when Israeli President Shimon Peres was allowed to speak 25 minutes,
when he was not allowed to finish his speech. Erdogan managed to
condemn Israel for killing of peaceful Palestinians.
In his message addressed to Turkish PM Erdogan the Mayor of Tehran
wrote, "While many states have preferred to remain silent and
ignore the crimes committed by Israelis, the Turkish leader has
found the words to express their solidarity [with the Palestinian
people]. Turkish people should be proud of their leader".
"Azg" daily has touched upon the incident in Davos in its previous
issues.
To recall, earlier, the representatives of Palestinian "Hamas"
radical movement praised Erdogan's courage. Moreover, at the airport
in Istanbul Turks greeted their Prime Minister as a national hero.
