No resolution on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide has been
presented at the 111th Congress. However, it will be presented in the
near future, perhaps with some changes. The Armenian organizations are
working with Congressmen, the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues
and Obama Administration to have the Armenian Genocide recognized by
both Congress and the US Administration, Armenian Assembly of America
Country Director for Armenia and Karabakh Arpi Vartanian told a press
conference today.
The relations with other countries could affect the process, but Arpi
Vartanian believes that Obama will keep his promise.
Arpi Vartanian today quoted Obama as saying: "Joe Biden and I believe
that the Armenian Genocide is not an allegation, a personal opinion,
or a point of view, but rather a widely documented fact supported by
an overwhelming body of historical evidence.
