AGBU Donates to French University of Armenia, Scholarships Distributed

The cooperation between AGBU and the French University of Armenia
continued this past year for the purpose of assisting the university's
educational programs, as well as its top students. For the second year,
AGBU allocated scholarships to 19 students enrolled in the four-year
    Bachelor of Arts program.

The official ceremony of the delivery of financial assistance by the
university's donors took place on December 15, 2008 at the French
University of Armenia. During the ceremony, Vasken Yacoubian, member of
AGBU Central Board of Directors, handed out the certificates of
    excellence to the 19 students.

Present at the ceremony were: Ann-Marie Schlosser, Rector of the French
University of Armenia; Mher Melik-Bakhshian, RA Education and Science
    Ministry Representative; Serj Smessow, Ambassador of France to Armenia;
Yervant Zorian and Aris Atamian, members of AGBU Central Board of
Directors; Ashot Ghazarian, Director of AGBU Representation in Armenia,
and other guests. Among the university's donors are the Yerevan Brandy
Company, the French-Armenian Development Foundation and ACBA Credit
    Agricole Bank.

In his remarks during the ceremony, Atamian stressed AGBU's commitment
to assisting the development of Armenia's higher institutions of
learning, as well as providing financial support to outstanding
    students.

Established in 1906, AGBU (www.agbu.org) is the world's largest
non-profit Armenian organization. Headquartered in New York City, AGBU
preserves and promotes the Armenian identity and heritage through
educational, cultural and humanitarian programs, annually serving some
    400,000 Armenians on five continents.
