SCIENCE-INTENSIVE ECONOMY END OF ARMENIA'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

    ARKA
    Feb 11, 2009

YEREVAN, February 11. /ARKA/. The ultimate aim of Armenia's economic
development is the formation of science-intensive economy, RA Minister
of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan stated at his meeting with students of
    Yerevan State University.

Referring to international criteria, the Minister said that
science-intensive economy implies emphasis on laboratories, research,
    education and financial infrastructures.

"If the infrastructures are integrated and constitute a critical share
in a country's GDP, this country can be said to have science-intensive
    economy," the Minister said.

Yeritsyan pointed out the necessity for highly skilled specialists
capable of advancing their own initiatives, and the Government will
be able to facilitate their development and attract large-scale
    investments.

The Minister urged the students to advance their initiatives and
    gain experience.

"One person's initiative is tantamount to dozens of laws, and
entrepreneurial people make laws effective, which facilitates their
    cooperation," Yeritsyan said.
